Embassy of Brazil
Washington, DC
Federative
Republic Of Brazil
The Chancery of the Embassy of Brazil was designed by
renowned modernist Brazilian Architect Olavo Redig de Campos and completed
in 1972.
The upper three (office) stories of the building
employ a unique structural solution, with long-span trusses at the roof
level supporting the perimeter of the floors below, the edges of which are
hung from the roof truss.
The expression is that of a 3-story office
block floating above the solid masonry base.
Jones Associates Architects were retained by the Embassy to
Provide
design and construction administration services for the interior renovation
of the building, including restrooms, employee locker rooms, kitchenettes
and a new Employee Dining Area.
Services included Architectural interiors
including new finishes and the redesign of existing spaces within the
building, structural modifications, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and
life safety systems improvements.
