Sbergetelny Bank of the Russian Federation
Moscow, Russian Federation
Michael Jones was the lead Project Designer for the adaptive re-use of this partially constructed technical institute to house Sberbank’s central offices and bank in Moscow. The existing building, consisting of an essentially square block with central courtyard, had been partially completed and abandoned. To accommodate the bank's program, the building was partially demolished, expanded and extensively modified to house this new 330,000 SF office building. The courtyard was filled-in to incorporate a six-story, glass-roofed atrium and central banking hall with three levels of underground parking. The vault door is on axis with the centerline of the atrium, visible through transparent glass.
Offices wrap around this atrium/banking hall, with windows opening into the atrium. The dining terrace of the employee dining area on the topmost level opens onto the atrium. Employee amenities include a 250-seat auditorium and below-grade fitness center, sauna/steam bath and indoor swimming pool. New HVAC, electrical and security systems were installed throughout the new building.
